Show Culinary Water Line Replaced In Cedar Canyon The Installation of a new pipe line In right hand canyon for the Cedar City culinary water supply sup-ply will be completed this week. A total of 11,700 feet of new pipe has been laid and will be ready for use In the system, according to Browning Piatt, engineer. The contractors, J. V. Adams. Chester Parry and Aubra Lambeth, Lam-beth, who accepted the Job at less than half of the engineer's estimate, will have completed the project In less than the 30 days stipulated In the contract. Contract was signed for $5062 and the engineer's estimate on the project was $10,300. High bid was for $18,000. Not only has the new line been installed but It has been completely com-pletely covered with a minimum cover of two ket The new line, which connects at the Junction of Highway 14 and the Right Hand canyon turn-off turn-off with a 10-Inch line from Cluff Springs, replaces two lines out of the canyon. Completely replaced was the first water line Into Cedar City. It was a five-inch line that left the head of Right Hand and tra. versed the terrain In a northwesterly north-westerly direction coming In at a point just above the power plant and the first CCC dam. This line was laid In approximately approxi-mately 1910. Second line replaced was a four-inch pipe estalished In 1948 which came directly down the canyon .intersecting the main line at the same point as the new line. According to Mayor Arnold Anderson the malntalnence of the two lines for the past several -years has amounted to between $600 and $800 each year. In addition ad-dition to this, water loss has been registered because of breaks along the line during the winter months.
