Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING Nola Kupfer Entertaining the MBW club on Friday was Mrs. King Stevenson. The afternoon was spent visiting and hearing Mrs. Robert Bauer give a most interesting account of the life of her grandmother Ar.n Gower Lunt. Following the ptogram, refreshments were served by the hostess. Dr. and Mrs. A. G. Noorda were entertained by a group of their friend? prior to leaving Cedar City for Las Vegas where they will make their home. Hostesses for the Saturday evening "Going Away" party were Mrs. Rodney Brown, Mrs. Willard Stratton and Mrs. Dixie Leavitt. The home of Dr. and Mrs. Brown was the scene for the informal evening of games in the playroom and dancing, danc-ing, which followed. Verses of farewell sentiments were used as decorations to carry out the theme of the evening. As snacks were served, the honored couple were presented with a novel Good Luck Charm made by their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jones had as their house guests last week Mrs. Jones' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl B. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Clark were enroute to their California home following a pleasant vacation vaca-tion to Oklahoma City where they visited with their son Captain Cap-tain Val Clark. Captain Clark and his parents traveled through Florida and the Southern States before the California couple bo-gan bo-gan their return trip west. After spending Mother's Day in Cedar City, the travelers continued on to their home. Pinochle was played at the home of Mrs. Wesley Thompson on Wednesday. Enjoying the evening with club members was Mrs. Beverley Urle, who attended as a special guest. Prizes for the evening's play were won by Mrs. Steve Asmus and Mrs. Guy Nlel-son. Nlel-son. Refrehments were enjoyed. Attending the State Democratic Convention In Salt Lake City last week end were Cedarites Mr. and Mrs. Dale Milne, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Isom, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Granger, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Kumen Gardner, who were accompanied I by Mrs. Reed Berrett and Miss Betsy Lunt. Also attending was Mrs. Carol Wright of Parowan. An evening of duplicate bridge was enjoyed at the home of Mrs. Vernon Gras on Thursday of last week. High scorers for the evening even-ing were Mrs. Robert Melin, Mrs. ( Evelyn Jones and Mrs. Dale Milne and Mrs. R. C. Morris. Mrs. Robert Melin attended as Mrs. Gras' special guest for the evening. eve-ning. Meeting on Tuesday for a noon-time luncheon get-together were the Faculty Femmes of the CSU. Hostesses for the monthly month-ly meeting were Shirley Stout and Marie Krueger. The ladies enjoyed their luncheon at the Home Economics room on the CSU campus. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Heap and children spent the week end In Salt Lake City visiting with fam-jily fam-jily members. Accompanying them , for the week end was Miss Elva Jane Robb. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Banks have enjoyed having Mrs. Banks' par-I par-I ents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. An-i An-i derson of Salt Lake City as their house guests for the past few j days. Spending the Mother's Day week end at home was Miss Brenda Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Williams. Brenda is making her home in Salt Lake City while attending school. Richfield was the visiting spot for Mr. and Mrs. Kay Whitehead and their children on Mother's Day. They spend the week end with Mrs. Whitehead's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ogden. House guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Wynn over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Miller, parents of Mr. Wynn. and Mrs. Wynn's mother, Mrs. E. J. Winder. Mrs. Winder remained with her daughter and family until the coming week end at which time she will be Joined by her husband. The grandparents all enjoyed greeting greet-ing the new arrival at the Wynns. Farewell parties have been set into whirl by the announcement of Mr. and Mrs. Conway Parry of their transfer effective June 2. Entertaining at dinner last week were Mr. and Mrs. Winston Seeg-miller. Seeg-miller. Following a very delicious dinner, visiting was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leigh, Mrs. Janice Olson, Wayne Whitehead, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy P. Urie. Mr. and Mrs. Parry were honored by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Piatt at a nicely arranged dinner on Tuesday Tues-day evening. Invited to dinner and an evening of table games were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carpenter, Carpen-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Winston Seegmiller and the guests of honor. Mrs. Douglas Lunt and Mrs. Bruce Decker were invited by Mrs. Kay Whitehead to her home on Tuesday evening to Join members mem-bers of her club at an evening of bridge. Light refreshments were served by the hostess after which the game of the evening was enjoyed. en-joyed. Prizes were won by Mrs. Lunt, Mrs. Decker and Mrs. Harry Har-ry Proctor. The home of Miss Mary L. Bas-tow Bas-tow was the scene Tuesday evening even-ing for the gathering of her bridge club. Miss Bastow served a delicious salad plate with wafers after which bridge was played. High scores were made by Zina Rigby, Elva Hatch and Gwyn Clark. |
