Show It's Strawberry Time Here's a new version of Strawberry Shortcake that is both do-Icctnble do-Icctnble and different! Its a fir... v.av to use left-over cake, too. Slim! berries are folded into whipped strawberry chiffon mix. and molded in a tulw pan with pieces of sponge cake until the pan 13 tilled. When chilled, turn out and decorate. Chiffon Strawberry Shortcake is a real party dessert an easy and inexpensive way to please those who love strawberries. Chiffon Strawberry Shortcake 1 pint washed, hulled, 1 baked 8-inch sponge layer, fresh strawberries broken into 2-inch pieces 1 tablespoon sugar (4 to 5 cups) 1 package strawberry chiffon Whipped cream (about V4 cup pie filling mix before whipping) Set aside 10 or 12 whole strawberries for garnish. Cut remaining strawberries in thick slices. Sprinkle with sugar. Prepare filling as directed on package takes about 4 minutes. Fold in sliced strawberries. Spoon a third of the mixture into a 9-lncn 9-lncn tube pan. Cover with one-half the sponge cake pieces. Repeat layers, using another third of the filling and remaining cake pieces. Cover with remaining filling. Chill until set about 2 or 3 hours Loosen cake from sides of pan with knife or spatula and unmold. Oarnish with whipped cream and remaining strawberries, cut in nail. Makes 8 to 10 servings. |
