Show UANARRAVILLE NEWS I By Hannah Daris A heavy rainstorm here most of the day Sunday kept the men folks very busy trying to control the high water. All ditches were running full and a large stream going out north of town, flooding flood-ing alfalfa fields and other farm lands. Mrs. Gwen M. Gurr of Parowan and her daughter, Bert a Winter and Mrs. Leon a Daltcm were visitors vis-itors at the home of Mable Williams Wil-liams last week. Several of our older people called to visit with Mrs. Gurr as she was a school teacher here mang years ago. Mrs. George Munford under- .went surgery at the Iron County hospital last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pollock and family of Orem were here last week. They came to bring Mrs. Pollock's father Hartley Woodbury Wood-bury home for a visit with his family. He has been In the Veterans Veter-ans Hospital in Salt Lake City for several weeks It Is reported that he will return to the hospital hospi-tal after a short visit home. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Williams were vrsitors in Cedar-City with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Walker. Melvin Reeves and son of Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev., called to see his grandfather W. C. Reeves one evening last week. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Reeves were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Devon Reeves of Cedar City and Boyd Reeves and a friend from Ely. Nev. Mable Williams was a week, end visitor in Las Vegas with' her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bryan. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Hammond of New Harmony visited Satur-( day afternoon with Hannah A. Davis. I Here from Cedar City to visit with their families were Mr. and Mrs. Verd Williams and son and Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Smith and jon. I Mr. and Mrs. Rosco Williams of Annabella, Utah, visited Sunday, with their mother. Mary M. Wil l liams. They were accompanied, by their daughter, Mrs. Annette Jensen and son Philip Lee of Colorado. Col-orado. Mrs. Jackie Dixon and children, of California visited here with, her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rowen Williams. The Sunday School gave a Mother's Day program and pre-j sented all married ladies with a nice book, compliments of the Kanarra Ward. Our Sunday School has been reorganized with Jim Cornelius as superintendent, and Maynard Christensen and Bud Williams as assistants. Janice Williams was retained as secretary. Outgoing officers were Vergene Davis and Don Robinson. Karla Davis and daughter Ba-linda Ba-linda are here from Wyoming visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glade Berry. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Robinson have returned home after spending spend-ing several days in Orem. Since their return they have had several sever-al of their children and grandchildren grand-children visiting with them. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brooks and boys of California, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hom-er Boardman of Paragonah, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Robinson and sons of Orem and Mrs. LuElla Hawkins Haw-kins and family of Mississippi. Mrs. Hawkins and family have moved here to make their home. Lorin Jones of Enoch was the speaker In Sacrament meeting on Sunday. The little Indian girl living with the Jones family played a piano solo. Leon Reeves, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Reeves, left May 13 for Salt Lake City to take his phyislcal examination for enter-ing enter-ing the service. |
