Show Dennis Colbert Cedar High played host to 1500 students, representing the various vari-ous high schools in the region, last Saturday at the Region music mu-sic festival. The two Cedar City school, the high a.nd Junior high schools, were well represented and both emerged with very high ratings, The entries were rated 1, 2 and 3 with 1 being the highest rating rat-ing given. The high school concert con-cert and marching band, the orchestra or-chestra and the girjs' chorus, each received a rating of 1. The Boys' chorus and the mixed chorus chor-us each received a rating of 2. All Cedar High students entered, en-tered, performed to the utmost of their ability and brought much recognition to the school. Hearty congratulations are extended ex-tended to Eugene Helland. the band members, the choruses, directed di-rected by Wallace Adams, the orchestras and the director Roy L. Halversen. Congratulations are also in order or-der for the Junior high entries for their fine showing. We would also Jlke to thank the local merchants, for cooperating cooper-ating with the high school In staging this big event. Band Party Monday morning at 7 Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Helland treated the band members to a waffle breakfast. Mr. Helland said that the band members had been most cooperative cooper-ative in coming out early each morning and drilling for the music mu-sic festival. In order to show his appreciation, he and his wife treated the students, to the break fast, to make up for the many the members had missed in order to drill and perfect their maneuvers. maneu-vers. Spring Frolic The Spring Frolic, previously scheduled for April, will be held Friday, May 11, in the high school gym. The F F A and the F H A are sponsoring this gala event and extend a cordial Invitation to everyone to come out and dance the evening away to the music of the Starllghters Orchestra. The decorations will be based on the theme, "I Love Paris." Dick Cox, chairman, stressed the fact that his would not be a formal dance and that tickets could be purchased at the door. Seminary Banquet i The Cedar L D S Seminary wUl hold the annual banquet for the graduating class Friday, May 11, in the stake house at 6;30 p. m. All graduating students are Invited to attend. Immediately following at 8 p. m. there will be a pin presentation. presenta-tion. At this time, each student will be presented with his Seminary Sem-inary pin by one of his parents. Featured speaker for the occasion occa-sion will be Mr. Clyde Spencer president of the Garfield Stake. The graduate's parents are Invited In-vited to attend the pin presentation. presen-tation. Early Tuesday over a hundred senior students from CHS boarded board-ed buses and Jeft for Zion for the annual Senior stuff day. The day was spent in hiking, playing baseball, football and Just having a good time. Twol faculty members got in on the' m m fun. of course. Mr. Glen Jackson j and Miss Barbara Caddie, senior sen-ior class advisors, accorrpanied the group and had as good a time as the seniors did. As the students returned home, they had participated in anoth. er event which would help make their senior year a very memorable memora-ble one, down through the years.
