Show Cedar City Elks Club Jo Donate $100 Towards Vegas Trip The Cedar City Elks have given $100 towards the college AFKOTC Sponsor Corp's May 18 and 19 trip to Las Vegas and the world famous Elk's sponsored annual celebration, Helldorado. The precision pre-cision marching group will represent rep-resent both College of Southern Utah and the Cedar City Elks during their two-day trip. Friday, May 18, the group will be guest of the office of information infor-mation services during the Air Force World Wide Talent show, which will be in its final competitive com-petitive stage at that time. Air Force personnel will present almost al-most every type of entertainment during the show. Saturday the sponsors wiU tour Nellis Air Force base, visiting the flight line and the officers club as guests of the officers' wivi-s, who will then entertain the group. They will march in the Hell-dorado Hell-dorado parade Sunday at 4 p.m. Transportation will be by the AFROTC staff car and by private vehicle. Major Ralph KeJley, Miss Jayne Winters and Miss Jenlel Reeves will accompany the group throughout the trip. Detailed Report Made To Kiwanians -On School Status Quo Ianthus Wright, superintendent superintend-ent of Iron County schools, was guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Cedar City Monday evening. In addition to the remarks of superintendent sup-erintendent Wright the club was also guest of the North Elementary Elemen-tary and the lunch room facilities. facil-ities. Following the meeting sev. eral of the members toured the facilities of the buUding. Several charts had been prepared pre-pared for the club members which detailed the growth of the enrollment In the schools of the county and 'pointed up the need for extra facilities. Included In the charts were: Census of 1955 classroom enrollment; grade enrollments en-rollments In 1955-56; Cedar City school enrollment from 1939 through 1956; breakdown of the ources of revenue for the county coun-ty school system; and a comparative com-parative list of Iron County as- school districts. Mr. Wright also, pointed out hat the growth In the eJemen-tary eJemen-tary schools' over the past several sev-eral years Is now reaching Into 'h secondary schools, the Junior high and high schools. That growth, he Indicated, necessltat-ed necessltat-ed the remodeling and addition that Is nearlng completion In the junior high now. He further fur-ther Indicated that the high school also Is overflowing. Three specific departments of the Cedar Ce-dar High School have had to be moved to classroom areas on the ground floor of Public School auditorium, including the Physical Phy-sical Sciences.
