Show New Civic Club Organized in Escalante Valley Saturday night. May 5, the Charter Night banquet and program pro-gram of the Escalante Valley Lions Club was staged in the Enterprise En-terprise L D S recreation hall. This, the newest civic club in the southern Utah area, was organized or-ganized through the cooperative efforts' of the Lions Clubs of Cedar Ce-dar City and St. George. Members Mem-bers of the new club have been drawn from the communities in the Escalante Valley. Elected as president of the new group was Donald J. Apple-gate, Apple-gate, instructor at the Beryl School. Other .officers to reign over the first year of the club's activities will be Bruno Biasi, first vice president: Austin Moyle, second vice president; D. Gene Butler, third vice president; John M. McGarry, secretary and treasurer; Bernus Barlow, lion tamer, and Otto Fife, tall twister, with directors, John C McCarry, Wayne Holt, Ernest Hefner and. Wilford Fife. A large delegation of the Cedar City Lions Club members and their wives were in attendance at the installation party. Featured speaker of the evening eve-ning was LaVar Thatcher, of Chicago, Chi-cago, 111., a Lions International Director. Tom Morley, district governor, presented the charter to the new club and It was accepted by the 'president, Applegate. Other charter members of the new chid include, in addition to officers and directors named above, Thomas Anzalone, Sherman Sher-man Beacham, Cain Chrlstensen, Russell Chrlstensen, Craig Clark, Joseph Del Vecchlo, Albert Force, D. G. Godard, Albert H. Harrison, Robert T. Hyde. L. David Love, J. E. Movie, Lane Mayle, Neils L. Neilson, Joseph Romero, Monte Sorenson, Ottis B. Walters. Warren Piatt, Alex Wood and Bryner Wood. The organization of the Escal-ante Escal-ante Valley Lions Club make it the only nationally recognized service group in the area and can be attributed to the growth and development of the valley. |
