Show BERYL GETS $5,000 i County Recreation Funds Allocated An Iron County recreation fund of $17,350 was allocated at a special meeting -on Wednesday night to the various towns of the county for use in their recreation recrea-tion programs during the current year. All tdwns of the county received re-ceived funds except Modena and Enoch. Each of these two have funds left from last year's" allocation allo-cation and therefor received nothing from the 1956 funds. The money Is raised by a special county recreation fund levy, and each year is distributed distribut-ed to the various towns to assist in programs both in the way of providing facilities' and In con ducting recreation activities. I Beryl was allocated $5,000 for the second consecutive year, which naturally is well above a normal allotment on the basis of ponulation. However. the people peo-ple of the area are building a communltv center which cannot be completed and mad available avail-able for use without additional funds. Thus the second $5,000 allocated to the area was made In order to complete .the project. Cedar City, which has recelv-ved recelv-ved well below the amount that might be expected was allocated allocat-ed $8,450 for this year. This wiV not bring the amount received up to what Cedar City should have received, but as outlylnr projects are completed the local lutiu Will ue iliCTaau, bO titat over a period of years the allotments allot-ments will be equalized. Parowan received $2,000 for this year, with Paraeonah grant-ed grant-ed $750. Summit $350; Kanarra-vllle Kanarra-vllle $500 and Newcastle $300. |
