Show School Board Adopts Year's Calendar, Iron County School Board in regular session Monday adopted proposed school calendar for the 1963-64 school year, authorized the signing of a number of teacher contracts and heard a series of extensive reports. According to the adopted schedule for the next school year classroom Instruction will get under un-der way on August 28 and final day of school for students was set as Wednesday, May 27, 1964. The program includes 180 teaching teach-ing days and included also n additional nine days for school personnel training Including the annual institute prior to the op-eng op-eng of school. A number of teaching contracts for the next school year were also approved by the board and a study was authorized to consider for possible adoption a various type contract offering. The study will consider the use of different type contracts for different work loads for Instructors, and for different dif-ferent length of service from a1 strict nine month contract to full year contracts with appropriate increases in salary compensation. A series of reports were heard. Robert Stratton reported on a spelling program being conducted conduct-ed at the East Elementary; principal prin-cipal Rulon Woodbury, reported on a program of American Values Val-ues in the Junior High School and principal P. M. Bethers of the Cedar City High School reported re-ported on the status of a request for funds to the state for a research re-search project In connection with the transition of the school into the new building now under construction. Mrs. Norene Dunton was approved ap-proved as a cook at the Parowan Elementary School. Property owned by the District on West College Av'e., originally purchased for a proposed district dis-trict office building was sold with Harris Nelson of Cedar City the high bidder at $3,100. |
