Show City Manager Applications Being Studied Although City Manager Thomas Tho-mas Thorsen, who recently submitted sub-mitted his resignation to the city Council, will leave Sunday to take over his new duties as manager man-ager of the city of Sterling, Colo., his successor has not yet been named. Mayor L. V. Broadbent states that all applications for the posi-tion posi-tion will be screened carefully and a number of applicants will be interviewed before a final decision de-cision is made on the selection of a new manager. This, he says, may take two or three weeks, and most certainly no one will be appointed before the regular meeting of the council on Aug- 6. The mayor reported that he may call a special meeting of the council before that time to study applications, but he is doubtful if the interviews can be made in less than two weeks. Sixteen applications for the position are on file in the city office, of-fice, all from outside of the city. "Not one local man has applied for the job", Mayor Broadbent said. Most of those who have applied ap-plied are now serving as city managers elsewhere, or have had considerable experience in this type of work. Applications have been received from a wide territory, terri-tory, from Massachusetts to San Francisco, and from the Dakotas to Texas, the mayor states. Mr. Thorsen submitted his resignation res-ignation three weeks ago, to become be-come effective on Aug. 1. Jle states that he would like to remain re-main in Cedar City until his successor suc-cessor is named, but that it is Imperative that he get onto the job in Sterling early in August, |
