Show - Escalante Valley Tour To Check Growth of Utah's lBread Basket' Friday morning at 9 o'clock the annual Escalante Valley Tour, conducted each year by the Es-, calante Valley Coordinating Council and the Iron County extension ex-tension service, will get under way. Meeting at the Newcastle church at 9 a. m. the group, composed com-posed of persons interested in the development of the escalante area, will begin a tour of the valley with stops scheduled at several different points of interest. inter-est. "Some day this valley will be the bread basket of Utah", is a quotation from Brigham voutig in regard to the Escalante valley and through the development of underground water it has truly become a mark of achievement in production of food stuffs in Utah. The route of this tour was picked primarily because if .shows the extent of the development develop-ment in the valley, and does not necessarily show the best crops or the poorest crops in the val-' ley. The tour will stop at several farms in the area as well as dairy barns and other points of interest, and not only crops but sheep flocks, turkeys, cattie and hogs will be examined. A highlight of the tour has become the lunch that is served each year by the Escalante Valley Val-ley Women's club. This luncheon has become a favorite for those attending in the past and will be long remembered by those attending at-tending this year. |
