Show St. George Lassies Win Cedar Softball Tourney; Outstanding Player Named Rocky Mountain Service from St. George repeated last year's performance in the Southern Utah Women's Softball tournament tourna-ment last week end when that team captured first place in the tourney over Boulder City, Nev., in a fast-moving game, scoring , a one-run victory, 13 to 12, over the Boulder City nine. Arlene McArthur, St. George catcher, won individual honors for the tourney, taking home the outstanding player award. Arlene Ar-lene not only boosted her team in defense but she racked up an impressive hitting record for the three-night affair. Miss McArthur, only 16 years of age, had a tournament tour-nament batting average of .7G9 and in the championship game alone she hit an even .800, scoring scor-ing four hits in five trips to the plate. In the first inning of play Arlene belted out a home run, and followed with a triple and two singles, to lead all others at bat. Milt's Circus Lounge, coming from a first night defeat, walked away from the tournament with the consolation trophy by defeating defeat-ing Ray's Cafe in its second encounter en-counter and edging out Thornton's Thorn-ton's 23 to 20 in the consolation championship game. In the championship game,! without a doubt one of the most outstanding women's games ever seen in Cedar City, the Rocky Mountain Service nine came from behind to capture the one run victory. St. George pushed across two runs in each of the first, third and fourth while holding Boulder City scoreless. In the fifth inning St. George put the game on what looked like "ice" when it scored six runs to up the score to 12 to 8 in its favor. But Boulder City, not to be outdone, scored four in the top of the seventh, to even the score at 12-all. In this top half St. George walked in two runs and used three pitchers before it could retire the side with the scored all tjd up.
