Show Firm Employees Pay ' Tribute To Retiring Managers Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith, for 21 years managers of the Sprouse-Reitz company store in Cedar City, and who have served with the company for 24 years, will retire on Aug. 1, according accord-ing to an announcement made by company officials. Although retiring from further business activity the Smiths plan to continue to made their home in Cedar City it Is understood. After three years service with the ""mpany in Corcoran, Calif., they we.r transferred to Cedar City in 1932 and have made thir home here since that time, and have been very active in church and civic affairs. Mr. Smith, a past president of the Cedar City Rotary club, recently completed 16 years of perfect atendance at club meetings, meet-ings, receiving recognition for this attendance record at the recent re-cent officer installation meeeing. He is also a member of the Franklin Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons, and at present is an officer in the Cedar City Shrine club. Throughout his residence resi-dence here he has been an active member of the Cedar City Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce. Mrs. Smith, although maintaining maintain-ing a home for her husband and two daughters, and being actively active-ly associated with the merchandising merchan-dising business, has found time for service as president of the Women's Association of the Presbyterian Pres-byterian church, and has held the office of associate matron of the Order, of Eastern Star, and at present is serving as president of the Twinklers club of Cedar City, and has been active in the Cedar City Business and Professional Profes-sional Wowen's club. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will leave Cedar City early next week for a month's vacation trip, planning to visit Canada after a visit In Salt Lake City with their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. (Dorothy) L. W. Macfarlane, and with their son-in-law and daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs. (Jane) J. L. Sevy in Ogden. Later in the fall they plan an extended trip through the eastern east-ern states, after which they will return to Cedar City to continue to reside. L. G. Leonardi of Winnemucca, Nev., will succeed Mr. Smith as manager of the local store It is understood. Mr. and Mrs. Leonardi, Leonar-di, with their two children will arrive in Cedar City this week to take over the management of the local store. |
