Show Two Vacancies Exist In County Teaching Corps Although teachers for all but two positions in the Iron County school district are ready to accept ac-cept terms for teaching this year, contracts, have not yet been presented pre-sented to the teachers, according to Howaid Dalley, clerk of the Board of Education. The contracts have been ready for some time, but Superintendent I a n t h u s Wright and the school board agreed to hold them until the state-wide salary problem had been settled. The contracts were held up at the request of state school leaders. The local board had previously adopted a salary increase for all teachers in the district, that is entirely acceptable to the teachers, teach-ers, therefore there is no controversy contro-versy here. The signing of contracts con-tracts is merely being delayed as a courtesy to the balance of the state. A meeting of UEA and teacher association officials is being held in Salt Lake City, and it is expected ex-pected that contracts in Iron County will be issued within a short time, unless some serious difficulty arises at the meeting. Schools in Iron County will open on Monday, Sept. 7, and at the present time only two vacancies vacan-cies exist in the district, or at least there are only two positions that no teacher has agreed t fill. One of the vacancies is in the IJscalante Valley school. Mrs. J. E. Moyle taught at the Escalante school last year, but does not want to return again this year. A replacement for her has not yet been found. The other vacancy va-cancy is in the Parowan high school where an English teacher is needed. |
