Show High School Addition Project Nearing Completion Work is going forward steadily on the new addition to the Parowan Paro-wan high school and it is expected expect-ed that all phases of the work will be completed by the time school begins on September 7. The building project will add approximately ap-proximately one-third more space to the facilities of the high school, especially in the physical education, industrial arts" and business departments. It will also al-so provide space for the seventh and eighth grades to come into the high school building, leaving only the music, home economics and agricultural departments in the east end of the old building. The floor has been laid in the new spacious gymnasium and the bleachers to provide seating for approximately 1200 people have been installed. There are nine rows of seats along each side of the gymnasium which when folded up take up less than three feet of space next to the walls and when out for use reach out between 15 and 20 feet. The bleachers are being varnished var-nished by the installing company at the present time. Painting of the ceiling in the gym is also going on at the present time with all windows and doors in. The classrooms are being plastered plas-tered and perforated celotex is being put on the ceilings of all classrooms. All glass is in but some doors on the lower floor still are to be hung. The shop and industrial arts department now will have a separate room for its woodwork department and mechanic arts department. It will also have a paint room and a classroom for mechanical drawing. Work is also progressing in the plumbing and heating and electrical phases of construction with showers and lockers almost ready for installation in those rooms. Some concrete fininshing work is also yet to be done. |
