Show Scholastic Record Nets Matheson Phi Beta Kappa Bid Alan Matheson, son of Mr. and M's. Scott M. Matheson of Salt Lake City and former Cedar City -esidents, who has made an outstanding out-standing record of achievernent it the University of Utah during the past fur years, gained addl- tional honors last week. He, with nine other students was named to Phi Betta Kappa, highest scholastic scho-lastic award at the university. To gain this honor a student must maintain a scholastic aver-ige aver-ige of 3.85 out of a possible 4. Only recently he was named to Phi Kappa Phi, which came in ecognition rf a scholastic average aver-age of better than 3.50. The young man was elected to Phi Eta Sigma, national fresh -man scholastic rociety requiring -l 3.5 average. n hb freshman year. He was also recently elected elect-ed to the famous Ovl and Key ociety, an hnnora-y organization for senior men. He is also presi-lent presi-lent of hjs social fraternity, Sigma Sig-ma Chi, and treasurer of the I'niversity student body. During his attendance at U of U he has participated in many other ac-ivities ac-ivities including major dramatic drama-tic presentations and summer festivals. |
