Show Trek to Famous Hole-in-Rock" Completed by 75 j One of the most successful treks to the famous "Hole in the Rock," wonder spot of Wayne county was completed by a group of 71 Tuesday (ening after a strenious thic.'-dny trips to the area. Under the guidance of Randell Lyman of Escalante, Utah the group made the excursion to the j colorful Wayne County attraction. The Sons of Utah Pioneers and i the Cedar City Rock Club sponsored spon-sored the trip with four Salt Lake j City guests in attendance. Packing a mobile generator the group was favored with electricity electri-city for slide projections and illustrated lectuies throughout the journey and meals for the occasion were; served "army style" on the three-day jaunt. Returning to Cedar City from the rugged trip, the group reported re-ported that through extra precautionary pre-cautionary measures not a single injury was incurred by any member mem-ber of the excursion party. Each evening the excursion group would camp and participate partici-pate in a program which included includ-ed lectures on the area as well 'as musical entertainment. I Lectures consisted of such ! nuttandini? authorities as Dr. Miller, associate professor of history his-tory at the University of Utah, who made special arrangements, to make the trek and who is an ; authority on ihe region, and a historical reading by Mrs. Floyd Atkin from papers of her grandfather, grand-father, of historical value re-gaiding re-gaiding the area. Itenorted as a complete success by all who attended, it is expected expect-ed that the annual trek will be- come more popular In the future and possibly surpass the number of participants of this year. |
