Show Now CSU Dorm Bids Well Above Estimated Figures As has been the' case in most bids on public buildings in Utah the past year the lowest bid opened op-ened by the State Building Foard yesterday on the Men's Dormitory ac the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City was well above the estimated cost. Two identical bids were received, receiv-ed, according lo a report from the state capitol, with a number of other bids received at higher figures. Base bids submitted by Talboe Construction Co., Provo, and Witt Consiiuction Co., Springville, were each $2X2,500. A total of $250(;!10 had been authorized by the Utah State Agricultural College for the new dormitory, but architect and engineering en-gineering costs must also come out of this. A number of deductible alternates alter-nates were included in the bids, and if all of these were adopted, the Talboe company bid would be $258,350. and the Witt company com-pany bid $201,431, according to state officials. No action on the bids was taken by the Building Board, and probably will not be until the USAC Board of Trustees have had an opportunity to discuss the matter. |
