Show New Law Sets limits To Service Connected Tooth Care Presumption of service-connection for dental conditions which appear within a year after discharge dis-charge or separation from service has been eliminated and new eligibility eli-gibility requirements for out-patient dental care for veterans have been set up tinder Public Law 149, 83rd Congress, Veterans Veter-ans Administration announced. The new law authorizes outpatient out-patient dental care for three types of cases, providing applications appli-cations are filed within one year of the enactment of the ,law which was signed by thePresi-dent thePresi-dent July 27, 1953. Eligibility must be established unaer one or more of the following follow-ing three classes: 1. Veterans having service-connected compensable dental conditions con-ditions or disabilities, which means they must be rated 10 per cent or more disabling. 2. Veterans having service-connected noncompensable dental conditions or disabilities where the dental condition or disability is Fhown to have existed at time of discharge; or 3. Veterans having a dental condition, whether or not service-connected, service-connected, but medically determined deter-mined to be aggravating a service-connected physical disability disabili-ty or injury. Veterans who qualify for treatment treat-ment under these conditions may be referred either on a fee basis to "home town" participating dentists or to VA Dental clinics. |
