Show County Education Board Awards Contracts Bids were opened and contracts i awarded at the meeting of the Board of Education Monday for furnishing anti-freeze for school vehicles', for insuring the busses, and for the sale of two buildings. The Bradshaw Firestone Co. J Reed Bradshaw manager, was the successful bidder for furnishing anti-freeze for all shool busses and trucks during the coming winter. I Dixie Leavltt, representative of General Casualty Insurance of America, was given the contract tfor insuring all busses and I trucks operated by the school district. dis-trict. In addition to the busses and trucks the insurance contract included insurance on privately owned cars used for school purposes. pur-poses. This includes cars used for ; various school functions where 'coaches or other school activity I leaders transport students to various var-ious contests in their own cars.' This wiU provide much needed ; protection for students and the school district. Fred Puffer was the successful i bidder for the purchase of the house located on the North Elementary Elem-entary school campus. The house located on 500 West is to be removed re-moved from the campus to make room for additional playground I areas. Mr. Puffer, who will pay $G95 for the building, must remove re-move it In the very near future, so that the area can be cleared and prepared for playground activities. ac-tivities. I The old school building at Lund, not used for several years, was" sold to the Cedar City Chapter Chap-ter of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Pi-oneers for $50. The building will be moved to Cedar City where it will be used for a meeting place for the chapter members. It was reported at the meeting that the John Hopkln's home on the corner of 200 East street, adjacent ad-jacent to the East Elementary school, had been purchased. The iamuy agreea 10 accept $,uuv for the property, providing the area would be named the "John Hopkln's Playground" and so be designated by a plaque at the site. This provision was accepted by the board. Bids wUl be called for in the near future for tlu? removal of the building from the property, so that the lot can be developed for a playground area. |
