Show Florene Richardson Wins Honors For Safety Program ..,..,, , wwww, ,, , , , , lwt FLORENE RICHARDSON Miss Florene Richardson, of Enoch, 17-year-old Iron County 4-H Club member, who won state honors in 4-H Club safety work last year, has been named by the National Safety Council as one of six 4-Hers from all over the United States to get a special spe-cial citation for meritorious service ser-vice to safety. Announcement of Miss Richardson's Rich-ardson's recognition was made Sunday by Glenn Baird, State 4-H Club leader with the extension service of Utah' State Agricultural Agricul-tural College. The new honor came on top of a $300 scholarship award made at National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago last fall. Florene's Chicago Chi-cago trip was sponsored by the General Motors Corp. of Detroit as first prize in state competition. competi-tion. Some of the projects she reported re-ported in her "safety story" were a community safety raUy, a series ser-ies of window displays, radio anu newspapt-r aiuues, a cleaning clean-ing campaign on her church grounds, and several skits on various phases of safety. Purpose of the 4-H Safety project pro-ject is to teach members how to recognize and prevent hazards, haz-ards, stimulate family safety consciousness and take part in the state and national safety movements. |
