To House Two WaTd Ground was broken for the new stake house and chapel, which includes not only offices for stake officials and a chapel for all stake gatherings, but also ideal recreation facilities, and all facilities needed for two wards of the stake. At the present time it will be occupied by the Sixth Ward, and probably in the very near future by another ward that will undoubtedly soon be established by the division of what Is now the College Ward. Ground breaking ceremonies were held at the site of the new stake house on July 4, 1953, and the project has moved along steadily since that date as the result of constant effort put forth not only by ward and stake leaders lead-ers but by many, many stake members, who have contributed money, equipment, supplies and long hours of work. The new facility, including the building itself, furnishings, an adequate parking area, and landscaping, land-scaping, have cost about $300,000 although the exact amount has not yet been announced. Completion of the new edifice brings relief from badly crowded conditions in the Third Ward chapel, which has been used for a number of years for stake functions func-tions and has also been occupied by three ward.,, the Third, Fourth and Sixth. It will also make i' possible to divide the College Ward without crowding three wards into the Second Ward chapel cha-pel which is now occupied by the Second and College Wards. |
