Show department Biologist Wins Converts to Trash Fish Program Members of the Kiwanls Club of Cedar City and members of the Cedar City Wildlife Federation Federa-tion met jointly Monday evening to hear a discussion by Dr. Bill McConnell, biologist for the Utah State Fish and Game Commission, Commis-sion, regarding the proposed poi-' soning of Panguitch Lake. Although some skepticism has been, viewed regarding the poisoning pois-oning of that favorite southern Utah fishing spot, Dr. McConnell gave very convincing data regarding re-garding the program and loft the members with a general feeling of full accord. For three years tests at Fan-guitch Fan-guitch Lake have been taken to determine the amount of trash fish In the lake. Although It is almost unbelievable, Dr. McConnell McCon-nell said the ratio of trash fish to trout is approximately 150 to 1. It was pointed out at the meeting meet-ing that although Tanguitch was one of the best fishing havens last year, a proper poisoning and planting program could develop the lake to be one of the best spots in the state. Dr. McConnell Indicated that the potential of the lake Is one of the best in the entire state. Another factor was also mentioned men-tioned by the biologist. Enterprise Enter-prise Reservoir which was poisoned pois-oned and then stocked in October Octo-ber with four and one-half Inch fingerlings, Is right now producing produc-ing trout of 11 Inches in length and should be as high as 15 by the end of the coming season.
