Show Girls' State Winners Announced By Local High School Announcement of girls selected from the Cedar City High School to attend Girls' State at the Utah State Agrlculural College campus June 12 through June 19, was made at the annual awards assembly at the high school Friday morning. Nelle Parry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Parry, of Cedar City, Kay Dawn Pace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthon H. Pace of New Harmony, and Cleo Tullis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Tullis of Newcastle were the three selected to attend. at-tend. All three girls are juniors at the high school and two of the three are aspiring to careers in nursing, Miss Parry and Miss Pace. Miss Tullis plans to follow an educational course and eventually event-ually teach physical education. Sponsorship of .the three Girl Staters is by the American Le-Igion Le-Igion Auxiliary Post No. 73, the Business and Professional Women's Wo-men's Club and the Cedar City Jaycee-Ettes. Girls' State is sponsored annual an-nual by the State American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary and affords young ladies an opportunity to learn the ways of government, including includ-ing parliamentary procedure and other phases of legislation. One of the subject matters to come before the group at the concl we will be the addition of a 49th state to the United States. |
