Show North Elementary Students Learn How to Save The "Corner Savings Bank" in Mrs. Edna Manghan's Second grade classroom in the North Elementary School closed its doors for the school year Wednesday, Wed-nesday, when the books for each child were balanced and when the children took their savings to the Bank of Southern Utah or to their homes. Arthur Gardner, cashier of the Bank of Southern Utah, greeted the children and Mrs. Carol Wright, savings teller, assisted with their savings and deposits. Last fall the class was conducted through the bank and became acquainted ac-quainted with simple banking procedures, and each child was presented with a plastic savings bank by the bank officials. The members of the class have been active during the school year in handling their own money through regular banking procedures, proced-ures, and every child in the class showed some savings at the culmination of the project. Total savings when the bank was closed amounted to over $60. The purpose of the project was to teach thrift and to provide opportunity op-portunity to develop business1 concepts. |
