Show Members of State Elkdom, Wives to Arrive Wed. Members of the Elks Lodges from throughout the state of Utah will begin arriving in Cedar City next Wednesday, Wed-nesday, May 25, to attend the 41st annual B. P. O. E. state convention to be held here Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, May 26, 27 and 28. Pro-convention registraation indicates indi-cates that more than 500 Elks and their wives will attend the three-day event which promises to be one of the finest in the 41-ycar history of the organization. An added feature of this year's convention will be the dedication of the beautiful new home of the local lodge. The dedication will be held as the feature of the afternoon program pro-gram on the final day of the meeting. Warren Bulloch, past exalted ruler of the local lodge, and district dis-trict deputy grand exalted ruler, will deliver the principal address of the ceremonies, while Dr. John ! Beal will be in charge of the dedication ded-ication ritual. "Dr. Beal is a past exalted ruler of the local lodge, a former state association president, presi-dent, and also a past district deputy dep-uty grand exalted ruler. High lodge and association officials from other states will be In attendance at-tendance for the dedicatory services. Open to Public Arrangements have been made for the general public to visit the new homo prior to the dedicatory dedica-tory services. In order that the public may view the new lodge home the public has been invited invit-ed to attend the general session of the convention from 6 t 8 p. m. Thursday, May 20, during which time the visitors will be conducted through the building. Another highlight of the entire en-tire convention will be the memorial mem-orial service for departed members mem-bers of the lodge. As a part of the theme that "an Elk is never forgotten," the annual memorial service Is always a highlight of the convention. This will be held at .11 a. m. Saturday, the final day of the convention, and will be held in the First Ward chapel. cha-pel. Evening entertainment will feature an "open house' dance and entertainment at the lodge hall Thursday, the state president's presi-dent's ball Friday, and the in-augural in-augural banquet and ball Satur-i Satur-i day, the final event of the con vention. The banquet will be held at El Escalante Hotel, with all three of the evening dances to be held at the lodge hall. Friday evening, prior to the president's ball, visitors will be entertained at a smorgasbord at the lodge hall. While this is in progress, past exalted rulers will gather at Milt's Stage Stop in Cedar Canyon for .the annual P. E. R. dinner, entertainment highlight high-light of the convention for those who have served their lodges In the past as exalted rulers. Intermingled with the full program pro-gram of entertainment will be important business sessions each morning and afternoon. A complete program of entertainment enter-tainment has been arranged for visiting ladles during the time business sessions are In progress each day. |
