Show Softball Association Sets League Opener for June 1st. Art Jones, president of the Cedar Ce-dar City Softball Association, announced an-nounced today, following a meeting meet-ing of the association held Tuesday Tues-day night, that plans for the 1955 summer softball program were moving forward. At the present time five teams have indicated that they will enter en-ter league play this year and plans have been tentatively set to start play on Monday, June 1. Association games will be played, play-ed, according to the tentative plan, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening. ' Jones stated that the L D S Church softball program would be carried out on Tuesday and Saturday evenings and the Women's Wo-men's league games would be played on Thursday evenings. Teams that have announced Ihrir entry into the league this year include Columbia Iron Mines, last year's league winners; win-ners; Iron County Record, Brad-shaw Brad-shaw Chevrolet Co., Sixth Ward and possibly the Jaycees. Efforts are being made to get a sixth entry into the program this year to make a better league schedule, he indicated. Most of the teams will begin workouts next week, they indicated indi-cated at the meeting, in preparation prep-aration for the June 1 opening. A schedule of games will be announced an-nounced next week in the Record. |
