Show Awards Assembly Honors High School Seniors Thirty-one certificates of award, 11 scholarships to institutions of higher learning and the announcement an-nouncement of three girls to attend at-tend Girls' State, highlighted the annual Awards Assembly of the Cedar City High School last Friday morning, as the first of a series of events prior to commencement com-mencement exercises, according to Prajt M. Bethers, principal. Activity awards are presented each year to students, who through various activities, ac-cumlate ac-cumlate points throughout their high school careers. Awards are presented to those students who collect a set amount of points as the rtsult of these activities. Points are not garnered exclusively exclus-ively from extra-curricular activities activi-ties 3ither, according to Mr. Bethers. Beth-ers. They include scholastic achievements as well and points are garnered for being on the Honor Roll. Although all scholarships available avail-able to high school students were not presented at the assembly assem-bly 11 have been announced. Nellene Parry, Cleo Tullis and Kay Dawn Pace were the three young ladies selected to attend Girls' State from the local high school. Alternates were chosen, including Sandra Lang-ford, Lang-ford, Kathleen Deckor and Marva Carter. Scholarships were awarded as follows: Elk's Nursing, Mary Jane Dalley; Elk's Scholarship, Sara Jensen; University of Utah, Myna Walker; Carl R. Grey 4-II Scholarship, Schol-arship, Janice Jones; Carl R. Grey, FFA Scholarship, Tom Williams; Wil-liams; Congress of Parents and Teachers Scholarship, Morris Slack; Thorley Motor Scholarship, Jerry Frame and Gale Fife, alternate; al-ternate; CSU Activity Scholarship. Scholar-ship. Gerald Matheson and Richard Rich-ard Heywood: CSU, Venda Jones with Fiona Halterman, alternate and Salt Lake Vocational School, Carma Beatty. The list of activity award winners win-ners include: Wesley Bryant, Jeanine Gower, Myna Walker, Morris Slack, Mary Jane Dalley, Jackie Winterrose, Valene Adams, Carolyn Endsley, Elayne Green, Lois Meacham, Richard Heywood, Kathleen Matheson, Gerald Matheson, Laura Lee Crosby, Janice Jones, Margeno Isom, Joey Parry, Karen Tait, Farrol Dene Whatcott, Marion Sprague, Roger Haycock, Sharon Clark, Florene Richardson, Grant Harrison, Guy-ly Guy-ly Rosenberg, Renee Gentry, Jer-i Jer-i ry Frame, Carol Bauer, LaVenda Jones, Sara Jensen and Juanita Hazel. ; President of the student body receives the most points, 6, and each student much accumulate 15 before an award is given. |
