Show Lions Convention To Exceed 1000 Attendance Advance reservations for the annual state convention of Lions Clubs, to be held in Cedar City on June 2, 3 and 4, have surpassed sur-passed expectations to the extent that convention committees are finding it necessary to re-arrange the schedule of functions to provide pro-vide adequate room for those who plan to attend. Indications at the present time point to at least 1000 guests attending the three-day convention. The housing committee has been able to cope with the sit- uation by arranging for the use of dormitories on the College of Southern Utah campus to augment aug-ment the many rooms available in hotels and motels throughout the city. .. Other committees are solving the problem by moving banquets and luncheons to larger accommodations accom-modations including the college fieldhouse and the high school gymnasium. With the facilities of the college, high school, Cedar Stake House and El Escalante Hotel, and with the catering provided pro-vided by the Utah Parks Company Com-pany the crowds can be adequately ade-quately handled. Reed Berrett, general chairman of the convention, and Mrs. La-Veve La-Veve Whetten, chairman of ladies lad-ies activities, announce that all details of the program have been worked out and many members of the Lions and Lady Lions are working diligently to make this an outstanding convention. Registration will open at 10 a. m. Thursday, June 2, and general gener-al activities will get under day at 5 p. m. that day, with a pre-convention pre-convention mixer, to be followed by an evening of entertainment at the C S U auditorium. Dr. Ramiro of Cuba, past president, pres-ident, Lions International, will represent Lions International at the convention and will be guest speaker at the principal sessions of the convention. He will be Introduced In-troduced by D. A. Skeen, Salt Lake City, also past president, Lions International. Business sessions ses-sions will be held at College of Southern Utah auditorium. Highlights of the second day program, in addition to business sessions, will be the model luncheon, lunch-eon, conducted by the Provo club; Necrology services to be conducted conduct-ed by the St. George club; a barbecue bar-becue at 6:30 p. m., followed by the annual auartet contest, and "Dixieland Show Time." entertainment enter-tainment by the Cedar City club.
