Show Cedar City P-TJi Council Meet Reviewed A very interesting and informative infor-mative council meeting was held Monday evening, October 24 by the Cedar City Parent -Teachers Association. Those present included: Ianthus Wright, super-intenden super-intenden of schools; Miss Mary McMillan, primary school supervisor; super-visor; school principals; council president; council chairmen; and the presidents and vice presidents presi-dents of the different units. Reports Re-ports were heard from all of the standing committees on what has been done so far this year In P.T.A. and some of the future plans for the organization. The presidents of the different units gave detailed reports on the Halloween activities to be held in their schools. The high school will observe the occasion with a dance for it's students, with booths depicting the Hal-Joween Hal-Joween spirit, furnished by the P.T.A. organization. Jr. High Contribution A full evening of fun is' planned plan-ned by the Jr. High with a dance beginning at 8:00 o'clock. The students can divide their time between that activity and a spook alley at the Armory building build-ing which will open at 8:30. There will also be a spook alley provided in the basement of the East Elementary on which these two schools are working in conjunction. con-junction. Then to. complete the evening for the Jr. High a spook show will be held at the Cedar Theatre. The West Elementary and the North Elementary schools will have parades Monday afternoon down Main Street with their students stu-dents in costume, after which, they will return to their schools for individual parties. The East Elementary will hold it's annual Halloween Family Night. The families of its students stu-dents will go in costume .to supper sup-per and an evening of fun and frolic, spiced with booths and games for all. Detailed discussion was held with Civil Defense and Safety Committee and it was recommended recom-mended that a meeting be called of all Safety Charimen in the flnits and the Coordinating council, coun-cil, to take action on the danger of children in the traffic zones. This problem will be taken up x with the police, the principals, and all people concerned with this hazard. The Committee on Health pro-vMod pro-vMod discussion on the follow up immunization shots for polio In our schools. This immunization immuniza-tion program will be postponed until favorable information and data can be publicized and given to the parents. The Adult Education Committee Commit-tee will soon begin its program study course, the subject of which, will be "Parent-hood In a Free Nation." This will be carried on under the direction of a grant from the Ford Foundation Foun-dation and will definitely be an outstanding study program. National Education Week was discussed. The individual schools will give special attention to this week which wiU be from November Nov-ember 5th to the 12th, inclusive. |
