Show r $28,000 Needed in Twenty-five Days For Cedar Stake and Ward Building Plans for the proposed newj Stake and Ward chajel for Ce-j dar Stake and the Sixth ward of Cedar stake, are in the hands of! the Presiding Bishopric for final approval, and a stepped up drive for funds with which to build the chapel, is under way. A total of $4.),000 in cash must be on hand before the building program can be started, and an attempt will be made to raise this amount by Jan. 25, l'.KxJ. This has not necessarily been set as a deadline for the project, but .f the amount is not raised by then the program cannot be included in-cluded in the 1953 building program pro-gram of the L D S church, and it may result in a delay of a full year before work can be started. The finance committee in charge of raising funds has $17,000 on hand now, which means that 528,000 must be raised in the next 25 days. This is not an overwhelming task, the committee feels, if those assigned to make ward contacts will but carry out their assignments. I. E. Riddle, chairman of the finance committee, reports that response to the appeal for funds has been very satisfactory where contacts have been made. The difficulty in raising the funds has come from the failure of committee workers to make the contacts they have been assigned. assign-ed. He appeals to every worker work-er to start work immediately and x call on every individual on his list. The new chapel, designed to serve the needs of the Cedar Sixth ward and perhaps one other ward when further division of present wards is made, and also Stake office space. It is to be located lo-cated on the vvest side of 300 West street between Harding avenue and Center streets in Cedar City, Stake President El-wood El-wood Corn.' reports. This location is ideal to serve the present Sixth ward and a possible new ward in that part of the city, and also provides ample off-street parking space for the wide use of the building and to accommodate the larg? crowds expected to attend various vari-ous functions in the church center. cen-ter. Parking space will be provided pro-vided for 270 automobiles. Pres ident Corry states. The building, it is estimated will cost approximately $230,000. The L D S church will meet 53 per cent of the total cost, with the remaining 47 per cent to be raised by stake and ward members mem-bers in cash, labor or materials. The Stake building is badly needed, and certainly there can be no question about the need of a new chapel in Cedar City to relieve the crowded conditions in the present facilities. It will be imperative that new chapel space be provided before any new ward is created, and it is understood that at least one ward, the College Col-lege ward, is rapidly reaching a population that wilt make it imperative im-perative that some division be made in the not too distant future. fu-ture. President Corry and his build-ing build-ing committee urges everyone to support the program as generously generous-ly as possibk,-and makes a special spe-cial request that all committee workers make their contacts immediately. im-mediately. Any individual who wishes to make a contribution to the building fund and has not been contacted, should go directly direct-ly to the bishop of his ward and make the desired contribution, .
