Show Cedar City Pioneer Succumbs At County Hospital Thomas Frank McConnell, 82. of Cedar City died in the Iron County hospital early Wednesday Wednes-day morning. The cause of Mr. MeConnoH's death was attributed attribut-ed to an arm amputation, plus infirmities of old age. Mr. McConnell was admitted to the hospital Monday for an arm amputation but was unable to recover from the operation. A life time resident of Cedar City Mr. McConnell was bom here, a son of Henry and Elisa WUliams McConnell on April 11 1S70, and has been active in livestock live-stock raising and farming in this area for several years. Tentative funeral arrangements arrange-ments have been set for Satui-day Satui-day afternoon. Thise wishing to view the body may call at the McConnell residence at 166 South 300 East Saturday from 9 a. in. to time of services, the familv announces. Mr. McConnell has been active in the growth of Cedar City, and in the past few years a prominent promin-ent member of the Old Timers club. He was active in church organizations, taking an active part in the construction of the First-Fifth ward chapel in Cedar City. He was married to Rachel Evans of Parowan near the turn of the century, and the married was solemnized in the St. George L D S temple. Mrs. McConnell has been dead for several years Surviving are four daughters and one son: Mrs. Wanda Knight, of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Phoebe Day, Draper; Mrs. Madge Adams, Cedar City, and Mrs. Hilda Thompson, Lynnd'yl, and Claude McConnell of Portland, Ore. Surviving Sur-viving are 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. McConnell also reared a granddaughter who survives him, Mrs. Helen Knight of Cedar City. |
