Show Arnold Anderson Elected President Of Cedar City Chamber of Commerce As a climaxe to the annual New Year's Eve banquet and dance of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, was the announcement announce-ment of the election of Arnold Anderson, local real estate and livestock man as president of the organization. The announcement was made at the banquet Wednesday Wed-nesday night. Mr. Anderson is well known in Cedar City for his activities with the wildlife groups, being the immediate past president of the Southern Utah Wildlife Association Associa-tion Mr. Anderson won the race lor president of the chamber over G. D. MacDonald, in an election conducted con-ducted by mail. Elected on the ballot to serve with Mr. Anderson for the coming year were Dr. John Eeal as vice president over Dr. J. S. Prestwich. Board members in the respective fields were elected as follows. Alex Williams, agriculture and livestock; Lanell LUnt, Rotary; Dr. Daryl Chase, schools; Frank Dalley, veterans; Rex Harris, industry, in-dustry, and Max Webb Lions. Chester Smith, E. S. Todd, Ianthus Wright, James Hoyle, Jr. Les Wahl and Eldro Rigby were the losing candidates for election elec-tion to the board of directors. Mr. Anderson and Dr. Beal, president and vice president fur 1953 were elected for a one yeai period, while the remaining board members were elected for two year terms. Completing the board for the 1953 year will be Mrs. Leta Cowley, Cow-ley, B. P. W.; Ralph Thomas, business; Kenneth Imlay, Elks; Richard Morris, Kiwanis, and Carrol Brown, Labor. Outgoing officers, commended for their outstanding work, at the banquet include Leo Cahoon, president; Myron Higbee, vice president; Fred Biederman, Bee Roberts, Charles R. Hunter, Milt Sevy and Art Higbee, board members. Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth was chairman of the committee in charge of the affair. He was as-sisted as-sisted by Alex Angelo, Herschel Neeley, Lt. Col. Oliver Harris, Glen Yergensen, Mrs. Ila Sher-ratt Sher-ratt and Mrs. Alton Christensen. Working with the committee and representing the Chamber of Commerce board of directors were Bee Roberts and G. D. Mac-Donald. Mac-Donald. Acting as master of ceremon-lies ceremon-lies for the annual affair was L. N. Marsden, Jr., prominent Ce-dar Ce-dar City businessman. |
