Show BAC Officials Attend I Conference Meeting ( In Salt Lake City 1 Theron Ashcroft, president of the Intermountain Junior College Athletic Ath-letic conference, Director H. Wayne Driers, and Coaches Ray Llndqulst and Murray Maughan of the Branch Agricultural college, attended a conference con-ference meeting In Salt Lake City Saturday, when pertinent questions of conference administration were brought before the group. Eligibility for individual participation partici-pation was one of the most difficult questions to settle, particularly since Westminster college, a four year institution, has been admitted to the conference. This was settled by writing special regulations Into the constitutions to admit the church school. However, as the school grows in size, perplexing problems are certain to arise. Carbon college, stressing vocational voca-tional training particularly in mechanical me-chanical training, has long accepted accept-ed students who have not graduated grad-uated from high school, and has allowed al-lowed them to participate in athletics, ath-letics, although they were definitely definite-ly Ineligible. A special provision was written Into the constitution Saturday, Sat-urday, allowing vocational students to participate, providing they take at least 5 hours of class room work. Perhaps the most Important accomplishment ac-complishment of the meeting, was the fact that the Presidents and Directors of member schools became convinced that to save the conference confer-ence they must take an active part in administrative affairs. As a result re-sult agreement was reached that the presidents will meet at least once a year, with the conference officials to study problems that arise. |
