Show Win Trip to Chicago 4-H Congress TRIPS to the 26th National 4-H Club Congress la Chicago will be given four Utah club members at rewards for their outstanding rectus lu the 1947 Clothing, Farm Safety, Girls' Record and Home Improvement awards programs. De St. J.or Wanlta Pine gar, 15, of Provo, receives a Chicago Club Congress trip award from General Motors for her outstanding record In the 1947 State 4-H Farm Safety actiT-lty. actiT-lty. Wanlta's achievements in safety work include cleaning trash from the yard and lots; keeping keep-ing a close check on electric appliances ap-pliances and the beating system, and checking ladders used in cherry picking. She serves as junior leader of her club which has conducted many special safety activities. Elaine De St Jeor, 17, of Provo, is the first Btate winner In the National 4-H Home Improvement activity, which was inaugurated In the 4-H Club program this year. Her reward will be a Chicago Club Congress trip provided by Sears-Roebuck Sears-Roebuck Foundation. During six years in club work, she Improved her home by helping make two bedrooms from an old, unused screened porch. She papered and painted them. Elaine finished a dressing table and made a dressing dress-ing table stool from a nail keg. She painted the living room woodwork, wood-work, the kitchen and bath rooms and also woodwork in her mother's room. Elaine helped shingle the root of their home and made many yard Improvements. Dolores Chllds, 17, of Springvllle, a club member for six years, ti named state winner in the 1947 Natfonal 4-H Clothing Achievement activity for baviug the top ranking record of sewing, making over or mending 115 garments for herself and other members of the family. She entered eleven dress revues, and has won many clothing honors and medals. Delores has given ten clothing demonstrations, and supervised su-pervised the younger members' sewing projects, helping them to win blue ribbons at the Community Achievement Day. Her Chicago trip award was provided by the Educational Educa-tional Bureau of the Spool Cotton Co. . Donna Chrlstensen, 13, of Delta, is the state's top 4-H homemaker In 1947. Her achievements during five years In club work as shown in the National 4-H Girls' Record activity Include preparing and serving serv-ing 220 meals; sewing, making over or mending 196 garments, and canning can-ning 2,200 Jars of foods. She also made 23 home Improvement articles. ar-ticles. Donna has served as leader, president, secretary, treasurer, and reporter of home furnishing and cooking clubs.
