The Nevada trip was sponsored by the Sea Scouts with William Weber as Skipper. Thirty-eight boys made the trip, accompanied by Mr. Weber, and the following local men Interested in the scout program and the young people of the community: Clarence Schmutz, Dr. P. K. Edmunds, Jack Soctt, Dr. J. S. Prestwich, Dr. P. H. Petty, Woodrow Dennett, and Glen Smith. Much of the success of the trip is due to the fine cooperative spirit of these men, Mr. Weber states. The scouts took an 80-mile cruise up the lake from near tiie dam to Pierce's Ferry, where they encamped encamp-ed for the night. The trip was made aboard a 45-foot motor launch powered pow-ered by two eight-cylinder inboard motors. The storms of the first of the week added a bit of unexpected experience for the boys, when they were delayed in their return trip because of the heavy snows on the Utah hill West of Santa Clara, and on the Black Ridge between Cedar and St. George. Many of them spent the entire night battling the snows before reaching their homes at the end of the trip. |
