Show WITH BATTERY "F" at Camp San Luis Obispo (By Corporal Donald Roe) Monday, April 11. Training here at Camp Is really underway in a big way, rain or shine we go into the field everyday. This week the fellows were given the opportunity of actually firing the guns. It was the first time most of them had seen or taken part In firing fir-ing them. The weather has been quite changeable, rain most of the time, but a little sunshine in between times. This week Is starting off like summer and we hope It stays this way. Things have really been happening happen-ing In Battery "F" the past week. One of the things we have had an Idea might happen, but were hoping hop-ing against, was the transfer of our Captain. This has happened and we hite to lose him because he Is respected re-spected and loved by every man In th. Battery. He Is still near by whrre all of us have the opportunity opportuni-ty of seeing him almost every day. He has been replaced by First Lt. Merr'll R. Hone from the Fillmore Battery. He is a very fine officer and lt Is with full support that we welcome him into Battery "F". Battery "F" has been honored and pleased with visits from the following people of Cedar City: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Candy) Lowdei ; Mrs. Hamblln Bracken, and Mrs. Earl Worthen. Saturday Mrs. Vernon Vern-on Jones, Mrs. Frank Dalley, and Mrs. Wourth Wood began setting up housekeeping at Cambria Pines, a beautiful town a few miles from here. Lt. Jones is spending his "honeymoon" in the camp hospital where he was taken this morning with a case of measles. The Battery has had quite a number of measle cases, including Cpl. Fred Hunt and Rex Bess. Quite a number of our men have been given some very fine opportunities oppor-tunities in attending schools and as representatives of the Battery. Wourth Wood, Cooks and Bakers School; Cpl. Talmadge McDonough, Chemical Warfare School; Harry Mlddleton, Radio School; Howard Knight was chosen our recreational representative, and Cpl. Donald Roe to serve on the Division Post Exchange Ex-change Council. Battery "F" Is very proud of Its First Sergeant, Charles "Hank" Renneau. He is rated by the Regimental Regi-mental Commanders as the most outstanding First Sergeant In the Regiment. Cpl. Price Haight Informs me that the fellows who have "girls" at home are taking special pistol practice for the benefit of the fellows fel-lows who have been "stepping out" with the girl friends back home. |
