Show Youth Movement -American Style The tremendous and reassuring record of the United States Junior Chamber as revealed in an article by Charles E. Hewitt, Jr., in the March "Readers' Digest," is a bright spot in a year of national Jitfers and world disasters. This all too little known "be of service" organization of America's young men, aged 21 to 35, has for fifteen years spit on its hands and dug in to master countless civic Jobs around the nation. They have done everything every-thing from breaking a notorius gambling ring in Tampa, Florida, to personally painting numbers on every unmarked house in a Texas City-from raising millions in back taxes to save Dayton, Ohio from bankruptcy, to Inventing the "Safety "Safe-ty with Light" program which is saving counfcess lives through mod ernising obsolete lighting on streets and highways throughout the United States. The Junior Chamber has made arrangements with the Iron County Record Commercial Printing department de-partment to keep the form Intact, so that any civic organization or any business concern can add the same information to its own letterhead. letter-head. A campaign is now In progress pro-gress whereby members of the Junior Jun-ior Chamber hope to sell this unusual un-usual advertising medium to the various institutions in town. Reports Re-ports indicate that the idea is being received enthusiastically by other organizations in the city and it is expected that within a very short time several of them will be using us-ing the same style letterhead for all their correspondence. a |
