Show Local Art Exhibit To Feature Numerous Prominent Artists Pictures In the coming Cedar City Art Exhibit, May 4th. to May 18th., will represent artists from various sections of the country, one of the most interesting being Vienna born Joseph A. Fleck. Mr. Fleck received most of his training at the Schools of Graphic Art and Industry and at the Royal Academy In Vienna. He came to the United States in 1922 and became be-came a citizen In 1927. He has exhibited ex-hibited since that time at all national na-tional exhibitions and at the Carnegie Car-negie International and has won several prizes. Mr. Fleck's pictures are owned by galleries and museums in Kansas City and St. Joseph, Missouri; Richmond, Virginia; Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston, Texas; and in Chicago and Rock-ford, Rock-ford, Illinois. Through the program pro-gram of Fine Arts under the Federal Fed-eral Works Agency, Mr. Fleck was commissioned to design the post office murals pt Raton, New Mexico, Mexi-co, and at Hugo, Oklahoma. Locally Mr. Fleck Is exhibiting three pictures: two landscapes and one figure, "Gultarrlst", which was formerly shown at the New York World's Fair. In the field of water color one of our most refreshing exhibitors Is Miss Vara Grube (pronounced Gruby) of Seattle, Washington. Miss Grube Is affiliated with the Women Painters of Washington, the Seattle Seat-tle Art Museum, and the California Califor-nia Water Color Society. She has exhibited, however, In many para of the country. Some of her work is being shown at the present time In Washington, D. C. Miss Grube Is also showing three pictures locally: "Our Cabin", a 1939 prize winner In the Washington Washing-ton show, "Phantom Farm", and "Tjie-jsUauiJ City by way of Zionanyon.
