Show A Capella Chorus Of B.Y. U. To Appear In Cedar Saturday Climaxing its 1941 tour of Southern South-ern Utah, the A Capella and symphonic sym-phonic Chorus of the Brigham Young University will present a concert in the' Cedar City L. D. H. Third W.ird at 8 o'clock Saturday evening. The appearance will be a benefit performance, sponsored Jointly by the Third and Fourt.i Wards, and will be followed by a dance with music furnished by the Rhythm Kings orchestra, according to Bishop I. E. Riddle of the Fourth Ward. Dr. Franklin Madsen and Dr. Florence Jepperson Madsen of the B. Y. U. vocal music department will direct the concert. Miss Loa Mathews, graduate music student from Pocatello, Idaho, will be accompanist. ac-companist. Soloists with the chorus will be Mary MacGregor, formerly of St. George, arid Nola Woodland of Pocatello, sopranos; lone Christen-sen Christen-sen of Provo, contralto. A. Guy Van Alstyne of New York City, tenor; and Ed Sandgren of Provo, baritone. Two members of the B. Y. U. symphony orchestra will appear as assisting artists on the program. Myda Stewart of Venice will play a violin selection, and Juna Christiansen Christian-sen of Provo a flute solo. On the program for the local concert con-cert will be several well-known opertlc numbers, marches, and a capella choral numbers. One of the compositions of Dr. Florence Jepperson Jep-person Madsen will be Included. The Cedar City appearance of the chorus will be the fifteenth in a series of seventeen concerts which it will give in its present tour. After singing in Kanab Friday Fri-day night, the chorus will come to Cedar City by way of Zion'fcanyon. On its return trip to Provo it will sing the final concerts of the tour at Parowan Sunday morning, and at Beaver Sunday night. A |
