Show Rockville, Child Loses Eye In Powder Explosion Wibur Jennings, 9. and Carl Jennings, Jen-nings, 6, of Rockville, were brought to the Iron County hospital Wed-neday Wed-neday morning where they were given medical treatment for lnjurie3 received when a galnt cap with which they were playing exploded. As a result of the explosion, Wilbur lost the thumb and two fingers of his left hand and also received such a severe injury to his right eye it was necessary to remove the eye this morning. He also received multiple mul-tiple puncture wounds over the body. The younger boy escaped with minor min-or abrasions. According to the boys, they thought the cap was a 32 caliber shell, and had placed some powder in it, with Wilbur touching a match to the powder while he held it between be-tween his left thumb and index finger. Carl was watching, a few feet away. The children are the sons of Mrs. George 8. Jennings. Their father, formerly an engineer for the public roads administration, died In a Salt Lake City hospital Sunday and funeral services were held in Rockville Rock-ville yesterday. . . |
