Show Two more Taos artists of excellent excel-lent repute are Elmer Turner and his wife, Ila McAfee Turner, both formerly of Colorado. Mr. Turner served In the World War and studied art later In Chicago Chi-cago and New York. At the present pre-sent time he maintains almost exclusively, ex-clusively, with an especial liking for dramatic effects and a leaning toward to-ward the modern handling. One of his pictures, "Cottonwoods In the Canyon", is now on exhibition In the Sprlngville exhibit. In Cedar City Mr. Turner is showing "New Mexico Still Life." Ila McAfee Turner received her art training In Chicago and New York. Mrs. Turner does animal portraits, por-traits, the American Indian, children's child-ren's portraits, and murals. She is known all over the country for her mural work, her latest achievement in the line being the mural In the Gunnison, Colorado, post office. Mrs. Turner Is exhibiting three pictures in Cedar City: "Ready to Ride", "Sleepy Day October," and "Landscape and Two White Horses". Mrs. Turner favors animals ani-mals and most of her landscapes contain horses. |
