M4 -f 4 4 4 4-f4 4- I NEW CLUB INAUGURATED. j Th, so gentlemen who, early in the i!it'r, conceived the project of form-j form-j ing a Catholic club in Anaconda, establishing es-tablishing a club house and doing 'something- to develop the social side of j life am;ong the many young men in this I city, sj'.v their fondeit hope.-i realized j Mcndvy night, Jan. 35, says the Stand-I Stand-I ai d. I For several weeks the club has been ! occupying its present home on Oak M.rec i. but last night was celebrated ! fh? formal opening, ithe house warming that beg-an the real life of the club, I cc.npXite and furnished. It was a gay event. The big brick building which : the club occupies wa? filled with about I all the humanity it could hold comfort- ably. The number of feminine gowns j in the attendance was large, for what woman does net want to see the inside of a man's club, and especially on such an occasion as this? The crowd that was ;iretjc-nt was a brig-hit and happy one. Everybody was in a congratuia- ! tory mood, and showered congratulations congratula-tions upon the officers and members! who have developed the club from a mere, indefinite idea into such nvjrial facta as a brick club house and a big I mo-mbershrr) roll. , On the nvain floor of the club house is a large apartment covering practically The lull area of the structure. This last night was u?ed as an auditorium, as it will be iheitufcttT at entertainments. In one corner was a stage, on Which was a piano. The chairs were arranged diag- ! ona.lly across the room, so all had a goad view of the sitase. j The entertainment was opened by the pitying of a selection by the A. C. M. j company's foundry department manda- j lin club. These erht voung men have I acquired a high degree of efficiency V'pon the instrument, and play together with the precision and perfect harmony j of a well drilled musical organization. Then the a.:drens of welcome was delivered de-livered by President J. E. McDonnell, who presided during the evening. He spake for nearly twenty minutes in a mosc interesting manner, sketching the hi.-uory of the club 'movement and outlining out-lining what it proposes to do in the future, the field it proposes to occupy and the place which it hopes to fill in the city. Following this an excellent programme pro-gramme was rendered, as follows: Vocal solo .Frank Cathray Piona solo .. Miss Mollie Hogan Recitation Alias Alice Mahoney A'ocal solo August Vidro Vocal solo Master Joe Hughes A'ocal ffolo .. L. J. Baker A'ocal Mlo Ed Davis A'iolin solo .... Miss Jennie Morgan The floor was cleared for dancing immediately upon the conclusion of the programmer " The guests of - the -club divided then, part going upstairs, where oa.rd -playing was in order, and part remaining on the lower floor to dance to the excellent mueic furnished. During the evening refreshments, con-riti.ang con-riti.ang of lemonade and tea crackers, were served. There is a homelike air about the club house as it her? been furn'sfted. None of the furni brings are elaborate, but are modest, homely and oleasant, giving an air of comfort to t'he place that is lacking in many clubs! When net in u s.? -as an auditorium, the. main floor is given up to gymnasium and billiard bil-liard purposes. Curtains divide the big apartment,, the gymnasium apparatus being on one side, and the billiard tables on the other. On the upper floor is the general assembly as-sembly roam, a broad, bright room, prettifv carpeted and eozily furnisihed. Opening off this room are three smaller ones, one of w hich is fitted up as a well lighted writing room, where always will be found a plentiful supply of paper and- envelopes, bearing the club name. A second roj-m is that which contains -the many newspapers and periodicals per-iodicals which are kept on file. A broad ta.ble and plenty of chairs make the room convenient for readers. The third rooom is used as a cloak room. Last evening palms, potted plants and flags formed the decorations, and very prettv t'hov were, too. T'he officers of the club re: President. Presi-dent.
