Show i GEMS OF THOUGHT. How' are your New Years resolutions prospering? Time lost is never found again. Life is a short day. but it is a working day. Don't be molded by your circumstances; mold them. The way to set over your troubles is to get under them. You cannot bo crooked with men and straight with God. Don't blow out the lamp of reason for the gas light of wit. He that is- of a merry heart hath a I continual feast. j True religion boils up from the bottom. I The cry of the needy is the echo of the call of God. Your daily duties are a part of your religious re-ligious life just as much as your devotion. A Christian life is not an imitation but a reproduction of the life of Christ. Ho who overcoves self is the greaest ! conqueror. - The school room is a garden, sweet and fair. The children are the tlowers that blossom there. If vou are tempted to lose patience with our fellow men. stop and think how patient God has teen with you. No Fham can stand in God's presence. His eyes search all pretensions to their very heart and core. What a can oughtto be, and what he can righteously be forced to be. are con ditions which have no necessary relation to each other. Thrre are lonely hearts to cherish, AVhile thy flays are going by. There are weary souls that perish. While the days are Koing by. Oh! this world is full of sighs. Full of sail and wt-e.pin-g eyes, Help your fallen brother ri?e. While the days are going by. In company, puard your tongue: in solitude soli-tude your heart. Our words need watching; watch-ing; but so also do our thoughts ar.d imaginations, imag-inations, which grow most active-wht-n we are alone. "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of lif." God places the means of grace within our reach to enable us to be over comers. This Is the victory that overeome.th the world even our faith. Faith and works go together. Faith without works Is dead being alone. Unless we use the means within our reach we forfeit our right to God's promises and are left without protection. pro-tection. Rev. M. Mueller, C. SS. R. |
