Show Storm now brewing over Thunder Mountain Road By JUDY JENSEN Editor CITY NUMBER 7 KUTV weatherman Mark Eubank said he plans to continue to refer to Bountiful Boun-tiful as City Number 7 "as long as I continue to broadcast on the air." The controversial re-naming came as a result of a ruling by the Bountiful City Council which denied de-nied Eubank' s request to add the name "Thunder Mountain Road" to the sign post which now bears the 1375 E. sign. Eubank said he feels the entire matter has had too much attention. "It was a simple request which Mayor Stahle seemed to favor, but we couldn't get the vote of the council." Barry Nielsen, Eubank's co worker, neighbor and co-petitioner, co-petitioner, agreed with him. "It irritated me that none of their (the council) arguments seemed fair." Nielsen, who broadcasts the morning morn-ing and noon weathercasts at KUTV, said he doesn't have a "temperature roll" on his program, prog-ram, therefore, "I don't have a chance to rename Bountiful as City Number 7." The Bountiful City Council has refused to allow 1375 E. to be named Thunder O Mountain Road in spite of the fact that all three residents living on the currently unsigned road agree to the change. "We thought it would be fun to have a name," said Nielsen. He expressed dismay that the request was denied. He said they have not yet decided de-cided whether they will repetition re-petition the council for the new street name. Both Eubank and Nielsen have had some light moments mo-ments as a result of City Number 7, but neither of them has found the events that led to the renaming of Bountiful to be a laughing matter. |
