Show Bountiful High School Brave Rave By MATT REED At the beginning of this article I would like to congratulate several people on accomplishments and activities in the past few weeks. At the school we have recently elected new studentbody officers, and new class officers. The school will indeed be in good hands next year. The Senior officers did a fine job with senior assembly and senior prom, and all their work is appreciated. The Mandonelles had some of their best performances of the year during "A Night to Remember," Re-member," and the audience enjoyed en-joyed their show. Competing recently in the National Na-tional Qualifying Tournament for speech and debate, three students from BHS qualified to attend the National Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee during June. They were Marley Eubank, Jeff Place, and John Eyring. Congratulations to all these groups and individuals, and good luck to those who still have competitions ahead of them. The tennis team has a match against Davis this week, away, and they hope to do very well. The last time our squad met the Darts, we came away with a victory, so there should be some tough play on the courts this week. Friday looks to be a busy day, with the drama students, the baseball base-ball team, and the soccer team all competing. Four drama students recently presented a one-act play at region competition and came away with second place. In addition addi-tion to their high ranking, two of the four came away with Best Character Actor-Actress awards. Staci Colton was named best character char-acter actress and Barclay Tucker was named best character actor. The cast will present their play on Friday, entitled "Self-Torture and Strenuous Exercise," in state drama dra-ma competition. The baseball team and soccer team both play Davis High Friday, so this is looking like pretty much a "Devastate the Darts" week. The baseball players will travel to Kaysville to play, while the soccer players stay at home. Good luck to both groups. On Monday, April 25, both the A'cappella Choir and the Marching Band will return from their trips. We wish them both luck as they perform. On Tuesday, the tennis team, baseball team and soccer team each have a game. The tennis team meets Viewmont at Viewmont, the baseball team hosts Woods Cross, and the soccer team travels to Woods Cross. On Wednesday, the track team also travels to Woods Cross. All of these events are a great chance to see the athletes playing, and who knows, you may even catch a ray or two. That about does it for the coming week, but before I end, I would like to tell you about the upcoming school play. The drama department depart-ment will produce "Blithe Spirit" on the 29th and 30th of April, and the 2nd of May. It looks to be a terrific production and is just another example of the excellent work of BHS students. |
