Trucking downs Young's Target Trucking pulled the shocker of the End of the Season Tournament, Thursday evening when they knocked off regular season A League champion, cham-pion, Young's Paint, 9 to 6, in a third round game. A 3-0 lead was grabbed by Target Trucking in the top of the first inning on three counters by Randy Smuin, Jack Hamilton and Gary Mathis. Rick Gardner scored one run in the bottom of the first inning for Young's Paint to cut the Target Trucking lead to two runs at 3-1. Three runs were scored by Young's Paint in the bottom of the second inning. inn-ing. Mark Sterbenk, Scott Thomas and Levi Smuin scored runs for Young's Paint in the inning. Target Trucking scored four runs in the third and two in the fourth inning for a lead of 9 to 4. Hamilton, Gary Mathis, Calvin Caldwell and Pat Jenkins scored runs for Target Trucking Truck-ing in the third inning. The Target Trucking team owned a 9-4 lead after five innings and was looking for more runs in the top of the sixth inning when two Target Trucking Truck-ing softballers got on base on walks. Hamilton committed an out and a Target Trucking runner was called safe at second base. The second baseman didn't agree with the call and fired the ball to home plate. A runner scored for Target Trucking, but the run was taken away as the umpire had called time out to toss the infielder out of the game because he decided that the second baseman was throwing the ball at the umpire. Gary Mathis flied out for the third out. Brent Labrum flied out on a one-handed one-handed foul fly ball catch by Target Trucking third baseman, Pat Jenkins. Claye Robb singled and Mark Sterbenk gave Young's Paint new hope in the bottom of the sixth inning as he ripped a homer to cut the Target Trucking lead to three runs at 9-6. Carlos Reed singled for Young's Paint, i The next batter hit a fly ball over ' Calvin Caldwell's head, but the first baseman raced after the ball and caught it for out number two. Reed just made it back to first base. Smuin walked, but the final out was gained on a force out at third base. Calvin Caldwell singled with one out and Jenkins was walked in the top of the seventh inning. Dave Emmett and Cory Bodman flied out and Target Trucking was three outs away from a victory over Young's Paint. Target Trucking gained the three outs for the win over Young's Paint, but they made their fans nervous. Gardner and Frank Young were walked. walk-ed. A fly ball out by Burke Buckalew advanced the runners. Labrum blasted the ball and pitcher Emmett made the Young crew sad as he stuck out his glove and captured the hot missile by Labrum for out number two. The final batter flied out and Target Trucking won the game by the score of 9 to 6. Young's Paint had a bye in the first round and Bonanza beat the Rookies, August 23. Gateway beat Circle K and ' " . Reid's Bailers toppled the Main St. Blues and P & P Well Service defeated the Moonshiners Moon-shiners in first round games. Century 21 toppled Spidle and White River won its game on a forfeit. Jelco downed Montague Construction and the Outsiders toppled Utah Power & Light. The Diggers had a bye in the first round and Salty Oaks beat Deseret. Uintah Engineering defeated Dowell and ERA had a bye in the first round. Young's Paint beat Bonanza in a second se-cond round game and Target Trucking Truck-ing downed Gateway, August 24. High Country defeated Chevron and the Bailers beat P & P Well Service in second se-cond round games. Century 21 beat White River and the Outsiders beat Jelco. The Diggers defeated Salty Oaks and ERA down ed Uintah Engineering in second round games. Target Trucking downed down-ed Young's Paint in third round action and High Country beat the Bailers. The Outsiders edged Century 21, 6 to 5, Thursday and ERA defeated the Diggers, Thursday. The championship game in the tournament is set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. Circle K beat Morcon and Tri Cinema struck down Mountain Bell for 'a first round consolation win. The Moonshiners beat the Main St. Blues and Spidle won on a forfeit. Montague Construction toppled Utah Power & Light. White River beat the Rookies in a second se-cond round consolation game and Circle Cir-cle K beat Jelco. Tri Cinema toppled Salty Oaks and the Moonshiners beat Uintah Engineering. Bonanza downed Spidle and Montague beat Utah Power & Light. P & P Well Service beat Dowell and won a third round game.
