Show Books not in library Dear Editor: Before we get carried away with press releases and praises of our library I think it would be a good idea to try and do a little research in that library. The three times I have done this I have come away disgusted. I find that 90 percent of the books I wanted were unavailable ( they were not in the library), I even went further and took lists of recommended reading in American History to find the major share of the lists were just not in the library files. In fact the University of Utah's library had more books just on current history than the entire volume of our library. If one wanted to research World War II one would have to go elsewhere for the books one wanted, for they are just not in our library. I am sure we could carry the research further to find the same results in other subjects. In fact it appears ap-pears that we have a good building, plush rugs and no books. In fact they have spent more for years on hired help than the library has spent on books. I am sure if anyone else went to our library he would be disgusted with the poor selection available. I pose the question wouldn't it be better bet-ter to spend a little money on books so we had a good selection rather than have a large staff with no books available. Disgustedly yours, WENDELL K.
