During Private Mitchell's basic training he learned basic infantry skills, rifle marksmanship, and physical conditioning. condi-tioning. On August 27 Kevin and a friend, Mark Lamar of Salt Lake City drove to Manila to visit his father, other relatives, and friends. On September 9, he will leave Manila again to go to Fort Sill, Okla. for temporary tem-porary duty in the U. S. Field Artillery School for 6-8 months. Upon completion comple-tion of this training, he will receive orders to a new duty station. Classes started on August 25 for Daggett County Schools. As of Monday, Mon-day, August 27, 195 students had enrolled enroll-ed in the three schools. Of these 47 were enrolled in the Flaming Gorge Elementary School in Dutch John; 70 in the Manila Elementary School and 78 in the Manila High School. The Manila Barrel Racing Club is sponsoring an "All-Girl" Rodeo at the County Corrals in Manila at 5 p.m. on September 10. Events for this rodeo will include barrel racing, pole bending, ben-ding, figure 8's, breakaway roping, team roping, steer undecorating, cow riding, and goat tying. There will also be a junior barrel racing, pole bending, ben-ding, and figure 8's. Those wishing to compete are to sign up with Peggy Briggs or Valerie Muir on Tuesday, September 6.
