Show June fire supressed, burn permits available The Uintah County Fire Warden. David T. Santos, responded to one wildland fire during June which burned five acres and destroyed approximately ap-proximately $30 in watershed land. Supression costs, including manpower and equipment, totalled $110. Santos reported that six burning permits were issued during June, however a significant amount of unpermitted un-permitted burning is occuring within the county. "A burning permit in no way prohibits open burning," Santos said soliciting cooperation on the matter. "A burn permit serves as a means of notification to fire fighting organizations of a controlled fire so as to prevent unnecessary response." "It also allows the Fire Warden to inspect the burn site to point out any . hazards which may exist," Santos said. Permits may be obtained by phoning 789-2092 or 789-5858. |
